General questions

1. What is a cathode ray tube?

A picture tube or cathode ray tube or CRT is a component of a colour television or computer screen. A CRT transforms signals into an image.

2. Am I eligible for the cathode ray tube claim?

If you purchased a colour television or computer screen between 1996 and 2006 that doesn't have an LCD or plasma screen, then you are probably eligible. The illegal price-fixing applies to picture tube screens.

3. How much can I claim?

The exact level of loss is not yet known, but is estimated to be approximately 10% of the purchase price, including VAT.

4. I purchased more than one colour television and/or computer screen. Can I register all these products?

Yes. You can register an unlimited number of products with a picture tube, as long as the products were purchased within the claim period (1996-2006) and you have proof of purchase.

5. How much will it cost me to participate in this claim?

TV Claim helps you on the basis of a “no cure, no pay” policy: you are only required to pay if your claim is successful. Typically, a percentage of the compensation obtained for you will be charged. This percentage is 15%.

6. How can I contact TV Claim?

For your convenience, we have arranged for all information and correspondence to be digitally available via our website. Please email your questions and comments to us via questions@tvclaim.com. We intend to answer submitted questions and comments via this website's Frequently Asked Questions page.

7. How do I know if my appliance falls under your claim?

At this time, we cannot say with complete certainty exactly which appliances will fall under the cartel. We advise you to register here for free and without obligation. We’ll keep you informed about the latest developments by newsletter. After logging on to My File you will find a provisional list of brands that most probably fall under the claim. However, please note that this could change in the coming period.

8. I purchased an appliance in 2006. Can I participate in the claim?

The European Commission has indicated that the illegal price-fixing agreements were made between 1996 and 2006. No specific dates have been mentioned thus far, and it is not yet clear how long the overpriced appliances were sold. Therefore, we have set the registration dates for the period of 01-01-1996 to 31-12-2006. If your appliance was purchased within this period, we request that you indicate this in your digital file. As soon as it is known precisely which appliances fall under the cartel, we will let you know.

9. I have a question about the evidence I need to provide for my picture tube claim.

We don't know yet exactly what evidence will be required for a valid picture tube claim. As soon as we have more information about this, we will let you know. At this point, it is not yet necessary to send us any proof of purchase documentation.
